Mother Theresa Palliative Care Society was established in 2013, aiming to serve and console people and their life as fully and as comfortably as possible when living with a life-limiting or terminal illness. The geographical areas covered under this society’s services are Adoor Municipality, Pallickal, Kadampanad, and Erathu Panchayaths in the Pathanamthitta district. The fundamental principle of this society is finding proper beneficiaries and their symptoms which may be physical, emotional, spiritual, or social. During the inception of the Mother Care Palliative society, it was formed to provide physio-social support to patients but has evolved and diversified its operations throughout. The Society now offers in-home nursing care, aids, and equipment distribution for disabled patients. Moreover, it also manages and operates a full-fledged dialysis unit and emergency patient transportation division with adequate ambulance services. As Palliate care is defined as family-centered model care, we have also established shelter homes for women and children. Special emotional care and practical support are given to domestic violence victims and for their rehabilitation. Legal support is rendered for domestic violence cases as well. The services are provided and managed by a highly professional and experienced medical team specially trained for serving the purpose. The primary goal is to improve the quality of life of the patients and alleviate their pain and suffering.
